Within the framework of the First National Drill 2025, the Command, Control, Computing, Communications, and Citizen Contact Center of Mexico City (C5) reported that out of the 13,992 speakers installed in the capital, 99% of them operated correctly during the drill.
The head of government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, detailed that out of the installed speakers, 13,858 emitted the seismic alert sound as expected, while 134 speakers malfunctioned and did not play the corresponding sound. Additionally, Brugada emphasized the importance of activating the seismic alert on mobile phones as part of preventive measures.
During the drill, which started at 11:30 AM on April 29, it is estimated that between 7 and 8 million people participated in the preparation exercise for a seismic event. The capital's leader highlighted the importance of the population's collaboration in these types of drills to strengthen the culture of prevention.
For its part, the C5 called on citizens to report any speakers that did not emit the alert sound during the drill. Clara Brugada expressed her satisfaction with the drill's development, calling it a success and highlighting the importance of staying alert and prepared for emergency situations.
